Jason Orris - Recording Engineer / Studio Manager
Jason has been owner/manager/engineer of the Terrarium since starting it twenty years ago as a basement studio equipped with a coffee maker and an 8-track. After a year and a half the studio moved into the Washington Avenue location where some of the best sounding rock records in Minneapolis were recorded over the next decade. Ten years ago the studio moved again into its current location where it has expanded to include a mastering suite, natural light, and an espresso machine in addition to the coffee maker. As a man of many hats, Jason was also Business Manager of First Avenue for eight years (1987-1994), tackling the books as well as running sound in the Entry. Jason played bass for Interscope Records recording artists Polara from 1994 to 1998 and played guitar and sang for No Alternative recording artists the Hot from 1997 to 2002. [ Contact Jason Orris ]
Rob Oesterlin - Recording Engineer
Rob has been with the Terrarium since 2007 after graduating at the top of his class from the Institute of Production and Recording. Recording since 2003, Rob has engineered and produced hundreds of sessions on his own and assisted some of the great local and national engineers and producers that have visited the Terrarium. With credits ranging from indie to major label, he has worked nearly everything from Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop to Metal. Rob is the master of computers at the Terrarium, maintaining the Pro Tools rig to ensure it is running at its' best. He is one of the few engineers locally who is a Digidesign Certified Pro Tools Expert. [ Contact Rob Oesterlin ]
Bryan Hanna - Recording Engineer
Bryan cut his teeth working at Underground Recording Studio with engineer/pedal-guru Tommy Robberts from 1989-1991. In 1991 he joined the Terrarium as an engineer and became part-owner when the studio moved to its new location in 2000. Bryan has engineered or produced records for Dan Wilson, Golden Smog, The Hang Ups and many more. Not only a talented engineer, Bryan is an excellent drummer and also plays guitar, bass and keyboards, production abilities that often come in handy. Since 2005 Bryan has also composed, performed, engineered and mixed at Minneapolis-based commercial agency Modern Music where he has done ad work for Target, Macy's, MN Lottery and many others. Dave Gardner - Recording / Mastering Engineer
Dave began his recording career as the engineer at Amphetamine Reptile studios in Minneapolis, manning the controls for some of the most finest acts of noise pollution of the 90s. After leaving AmRep Dave joined the Terrarium as an engineer in 1999 and built his mastering facility, Magneto Mastering, here in 2001. In addition to his mastering work Dave has also produced or engineered records for the Hold Steady, John Reis (Rocket from the Crypt), Dillinger Four, and Lifter Puller. He is currently playing bass guitar with his new band the Dynamiters and has also played in Die Electric! and Selby Tigers. [ Contact Dave Gardner ]
