Jason Orris - Recording Engineer / Studio Manager
Jason has been owner/manager/engineer of the Terrarium since starting it 19 years ago as a basement studio equipped with a coffee maker and an 8-track. After a year and a half the studio moved into the Washington Avenue location where some of the best sounding rock records in Minneapolis were recorded over the next decade. 8 years ago the studio moved again into its current location where it has expanded to include a mastering suite, natural light, and an espresso machine in addition to the coffee maker. As a man of many hats, Jason was also business manager of First Avenue for eight years (1987-1994), tackling the books as well as running sound, and played bass for Interscope Records recording artists Polara from 1994-1998. Dustin Miller - Recording Engineer
Dustin moved to Minneapolis in 2001 and also began recording bands in his basement with an 8-track. After a few years of being a baker in the morning, attending class all day, and recording all night, Dustin joined the Terrarium in 2003. Over the next few years he assisted on hundreds of sessions, an apprenticeship under some of the greatest producers and engineers in the business that has given him the skills he now puts to work daily as house engineer at the Terrarium. On the few evenings of the year that he isn't at the Terrarium recording he can be found playing guitar with his rock outfit Young Dudes or tinkering with his stable of dilapidated tape machines.
